Spectrophotometric methods for estiamation of metoclopramide hydrochloride in pharmaceutical formulation
R.V.Rele, S.A.Sawant
Simple sensitive and accurate spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the estimation ofmetoclopramide hydrochloride in pharmaceutical dosage form. Methods I, II are based on reactions of para amino phenol and catecholwithmetoclopramide hydrochloride in presence of sodium carbonatewithmaximumabsorbance at 450 and 480 nmrespectively.Method III is based on the reaction of drug with salicylaldehyde. It gives Schiff base. It shows maximum absorbance at 405 nm. The proposed methods were validated statistically. Recovery ofmethods were Carried out by standard additionmethod. The linearitywas found to be 10-50 ïÂÂg/ml, 5-50 ïÂÂg/ml and 5-50 ïÂÂg/ml formethods I, II, III respectively. The lowvalues of standard deviation and percentageRSDindicate high precision of themethods.Hence they are useful for the routine estimation of metoclopramide hydrochloride in tablets.
