A. Arockia Jenecius, F. Uthayakumari and V. R. Mohan
The present investigation was carried out to analyse the active constituents present in different parts of Sauropus bacciformis (Euphorbiaceae). Twenty two compounds in root extract, 20 compounds in stem extract and 9 compounds in leaf extract were identified by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. 1, 6, 10, 14, 18, 22 – Tetracosahexaen-3-ol, 2, 6, 10, 15, 19, 23- hexamethyl (47.14%) was the prevailing compound in stem extract, Glycerin (42.36%) was the major constituent in leaf extract and 3 Hexanol, 2, 2-dimethyl was the prevailing compound in root extract. This is the first report of identification of active constituents from different parts of Sauropus bacciformis by GC-MS.
