Environmental friendly synthesis of bis(indolyl)methanes catalyzed by nitro phthalic acids

A general, mild and efficient synthesis of bis(indolyl)methanes via electrophilic substitution reaction of indole with various aldehydes or ketones under catalysis of nitrophthalic acids as potential green catalyst have been described in good yield.
