Cells respond to a wide range of extracellular signals, frequently by activating intracellular signaling pathways that cause changes in cell function or behavior. In response to growth factors, cytokines, or other signaling molecules, these signaling pathways may be activated, resulting in intracellular activation of kinase pathways.
