Bacteriophage Therapy: A Potential Use of Phages in Medical Field

Phage therapy is the therapeutic use of bacteriophages to treat pathogenic bacterial infections. Phage therapy has many potential applications in human medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, and agriculture. With the increase in antibiotic resistance, the use of bacteriophage as antimicrobial agents is being re-examined to supplement antibiotic treatment. Potential advantages of using phage result from their specificity and ability to multiply.
